CCI Consulting presented at the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW) Billion Dollar Company CHRO Roundtable in Chicago on May 15, 2019. Rob Croner, CCI’s Vice President, Senior Executive Services, and Susan McDonald, Vice President, Client Services, led a productive and interactive discussion with CHROs from $1B+ revenue companies around pay equity, which has gained heightened focus in the marketplace due to the #MeToo, Know Your Worth and other similar movements.
Roundtable members prioritized pay equity for this spring meeting, recognizing that equity is broader than just a compensation issue. All CHROs at the roundtable agreed that employees’ perception of the fairness of how they are paid and the transparency of the pay system has significant impact on culture, trust, engagement, and, ultimately, its ability to successfully retain and attract critical talent.
Although Federal legislation has stalled on this front, many states have made (or are making) this a priority. Besides the positive impact on talent management, companies with employees in multiple states are being forced to look at pay equity as a component of their overall compensation philosophy to ensure adherence to state regulations where it applies in some of their employee locations.
