Steve brings a unique background that combines business experience, consulting experience, psychological expertise, and teaching to inform his coaching.  With an approachable and easygoing style, he understands how successful leaders need to function, recognizing that different people will lead successfully in different ways. He partners with managers and executives to assess and leverage their individual strengths while frankly considering and addressing their challenges. He has worked in a wide variety of sectors, in businesses ranging in size from Fortune 5 organizations to small companies.

Steve spent the early part of his career as a practicing consulting clinical psychologist, building a successful practice with a partner before selling his interest and accepting a position as an internal consultant and professor at Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann University.  He transitioned to working with coaching and consulting firms that include RHR International, Mercer Human Resource Consulting, and YSC.  Steve was a lead consultant and member of a consulting team that successfully landed a major multi-year change management and organizational development program at Best Buy. This project is chronicled in the book Big Change at Best Buy (Gibson and Billings, 2003).

Steve earned his undergraduate degree in psychology (magna cum laude) from Washington University in St. Louis.  He earned an MA in clinical psychology from Temple University, and a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann University.  He is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) by the Human Resources Certification Institute, and also certified in the Caliper, the Hogan Suite, FIRO, and Benchmarks. He is professionally qualified to administer a number of other instruments.
