Community Involvement

Career Concepts is actively involved in supporting organizations that make a difference in our community. Four organizations which Career Concepts supports are the Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia, the Freedoms Foundation, the Greater Philadelphia Foundation for Women Entrepreneurs and Junior Achievement of Delaware Valley.

Ronald McDonald House

The idea behind Ronald McDonald House is simple: provide a “home-away-from-home” for families of seriously ill children who are receiving treatment at nearby hospitals.

Some children need to travel great distances to get the medical attention they need. In-hospital treatment may last one day, one year, or even longer. For the families of these children, accommodations can be hard to come by; options are often limited to costly hotels or unforgiving hospital chairs and benches.

The Ronald McDonald House provides a comfortable, supportive alternative for these families. It serves as a temporary residence near the medical facility where family members can sleep, eat, relax, and find support from other families in similar situations.

Sharon Imperiale, President, rallies Career Concepts’ employees and their families to volunteer at the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House. We provide, prepare, and serve dinners for the parents and children staying at the house. It is a great opportunity to support a great cause.

Freedoms Foundation

Freedoms Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching young people the principles upon which our nation was founded. Freedoms Foundation’s mission is to convey the close link between the rights and the responsibilities of citizens in society.

Through education programs, collectively titled America's School for Citizenship Education, Americans are taught about America. Each year, some 3,000 students from all 50 states take part in Freedoms Foundation educational programs that include U.S. history, constitutional rights and citizens' responsibilities, core values, and the private enterprise system.

Career Concepts’ Organizational Effectiveness Practice Leader, Mike McDannell, currently volunteers at the Freedoms Foundation and is a past member of the Freedoms Foundation Board of Directors.

The Nawbo Greater Philadelphia Foundation for Women Entrepreneurs (GPFWE) was established in 2009 as a 501-3c non-profit educational foundation that seeks to provide opportunities for capacity building & organizational development for emerging & established women entrepreneurs.  Gifts to the Foundation are fully tax deductible to the maximum extend allowable by law.

The Foundation will offer programming that encourages integrity, excellence, civic engagement and creative collaboration.  One such program is the ATHENAPowerLink NAWBO Delaware Valley Program.  This program offers women-owned businesses (2+ years in business) the opportunity to connect with - and receive advice and support from a panel of highly skilled, voluteer advisors for a period of one year - at no cost.  Business owners learn how to develop networks, access capital and implement best practices.

Career Concepts' Susan McDonald, Vice President Sales & Marketing, is a Board member of the Foundation, active member of the NAWBO Philadelphia Chapter's Corporate Sponsor Committee and serves as a selected member of an Advisory Panel for Athena Powerlink 2010 to 2011.

Junior Achievement

Junior Achievement is passionate people inspiring kids to learn the economics of life through free enterprise education. These caring adults include teachers, who open their doors to this unique dimension of learning; volunteers, who are the heart of JA's learn-by-doing approach; and investors, whose generous resources turn classrooms into learning laboratories of the future. These people dedicate their precious time, energy and resources to change the lives of young people. They desperately want kids to be successful.

Career Concepts’ Senior Consultant, Frank Perras, currently volunteers in the classroom. Frank also is a member of the JA Board of Directors and Chairman of the Board Development Committee.
